Every year, up to 15 million women in the US alone suffer from light bladder leaks associated with Stress Urinary Incontinence, or SUI. SUI is a form of urinary incontinence in which the leaks are triggered by movement or motion that puts pressure or “stress” on the abdomen, bladder, and/or urinary tract. This can be from running, jumping, laughing, sneezing, etc. There are technically two types of SUI – urethral hypermobility, in which your urethra shifts position due to an increase in abdominal pressure, and intrinsic sphincteric deficiency (ISD) when your sphincter doesn’t seal off effectively at your bladder. Most experts believe that women with SUI have a little bit of both of these kinds working together to cause leaks. SUI is caused by a weakened pelvic floor, and although doctors may not be able to pinpoint one cause (it can actually be due to a couple of reasons), there are common risk factors such as:

  • Childbirth
  • Menopause
  • Repeated high-impact activities
  • Obesity
  • Chronic coughing (illness or smoking)
  • Pelvic surgeries (prostatectomy or hysterectomy)

Can I Use Revive®?: How to Know if Revive is Right for You

There are a ton of solutions out there for women to help reduce and cover up leaks so that they can live their lives. But for plenty of women, options like pads and liners are often bulky, uncomfortable, and expensive. In response to the need for real protection that was both comfortable and effective, women’s health company Rinovum developed Revive®. Is this revolutionary product right for you?

What is Revive®?

Let’s take a minute to introduce Revive®, your new best friend. Revive is a reusable bladder support device made of soft, flexible, and skin-safe silicone and designed with a unique shape that moves with the women’s anatomy to reduce leaks for up to 12 hours a day. Inserted like a tampon, it works internally to stop leaks before they happen, instead of just covering them up. Revive was made to be one size that would fit comfortably for most women, so there is no need to get it fitted by a healthcare professional. In addition, Revive is FDA-approved to be sold and used over-the-counter, so there is no need for a prescription. Every box of Revive contains:

  • Reusable bladder support
  • Reusable applicator and advancer
  • 1-month string supply
  • Travel case

To use, users simply load the device in the applicator, insert, and enjoy the confidence that comes with being dry all day. After use, the device is easily removed, cleaned, and able to be stored until the next use. By using a reusable incontinence product like Revive, you’re saving both money in your pocket and waste from entering landfills.

Is Revive® Right for Me?

So, is Revive right for you? Revive was designed specifically for women with Stress Urinary Incontinence. You may want to try the device if you leak urine when you:

  • Cough
  • Sneeze
  • Laugh
  • Lift something
  • Run
  • Jump
  • Bend over

Are There Women that Can’t Use Revive®?

Unfortunately, there are women that cannot use this device for their bladder leaks. Revive is not right for you if:

You have a different kind of urinary incontinence: If you have been diagnosed with urge incontinence, sometimes called Overactive Bladder or OAB, Revive is not right for you.

You have given birth or had a vaginal surgery in the past 3 months: Revive should not be used if you are pregnant, or have given birth within the last 3 months. Do not use if you have had a miscarriage, vaginal surgery, perineal surgery or uterine surgery in the past 3 months. In addition, if you have had an intrauterine device (IUD) placement in the past 6 months, you should not use Revive.

If you have an infection: If you have a vaginal or urinary tract infection that is active, do not use Revive.

If you’re menstruating: If you’re menstruating or are experiencing any type of vaginal bleeding, do not use Revive. In addition, do not insert if you’re using another intravaginal product like a tampon or menstrual cup.

If you’re experiencing leaks, but find yourself in one of these categories, talk to your doctor about other solutions that could work for you.
